The Bible, the Torah, and the Epic of Gilgamesh – this book sheds light on the origins of Western civilisation and its economy. Written in 2013, it struck right into the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis and the debate over whether debt was or was not a sign of moral weakness.
It is one of those books that becomes a dear companion and a friend, as you can see from the somewhat damaged cover. For me, there is a before and an after reading ‘Economics of Good and Evil’. It is a good read for anyone who is confused by the way European societies understand business ethics and wants to learn about the role the economy has played throughout human history from Gilgamesh to the Bible.
