Landscapes That Shaped Our Identity as Europeans
You might have seen pictures from places in Europe: Paris, Rome, Athens, Warshaw, Stockholm…so many cities!
But there is more to Europe than iconic urban places. Think of the rolling vineyards of the Palatinate or Penedès, the rugged cliffs of Alpine lakes, or the serene wideness of Fryslân. These landscapes are the true inspiring places, as they are sources of tales, behaviour, traditions, and culture. Landscapes have always shaped human beings and their way of life, and Europe is no exception. I hope that by observing the landscapes below, you might draw a bit of a conclusion about how people might live there.
Imagine yourself in these places. What emotions would you experience? What scents and textures would you encounter? What sounds would fill the air?
I hope you enjoy the pictures of the lush green meadows of the Prepyrenees, the golden beaches of the Mediterranean sea, and the misty lakelands of Brandenburg as I do.
All place names are provided in their original language in order to show respect for the local culture.
